Giants Turn to Top Prospect to Climb Out of the Basement

SAN FRANCISCO – Help may be on the way for the San Francisco Giants with the arrival of top prospect Bryce Eldridge, who was recently called up to provide a much-needed spark.

The Giants have struggled to find consistency at the plate this season, and Eldridge could offer a boost as the team looks to snap a six-game losing streak. During their most recent road trip, San Francisco was outscored 26–9 and fell to 13–21 on the season, highlighting ongoing offensive concerns.

Eldridge has already had a brief taste of the majors, appearing in 10 games in 2025. He recorded three hits and four RBIs while posting a .107 batting average. Although he is still searching for his first career home run, Eldridge said his initial experience at the major league level helped prepare him for a larger role this season.

“I think it’s a been there, done that type of thing. I kind of know what to expect. I’m just glad to be here and have gotten my feet wet already,” Eldridge said. “A big thing for me was taking my walks. Getting on base is huge for me, being a power guy, you start to realize guys are trying to pitch around me more.”

Bryce Eldridge has forced the issue with his production in Triple-A, showing improved plate discipline and offensive consistency. In just 30 games this season, he has drawn 20 walks, nearly matching the 28 he recorded all of last year in roughly half the time. He’s also hitting .333 with five home runs and 22 RBIs, marking his strongest stretch at the level.

The Giants will waste no time putting him to work, slotting Eldridge in as the designated hitter against the San Diego Padres. He’ll be joined by catcher Jesus Rodriguez, another call-up from Sacramento. In corresponding moves, the Giants designated Jerar Encarnacion for assignment and optioned Will Brennan to Triple-A.

Manager Tony Vitello said the club is looking for a spark after being swept on their recent road trip, and hopes Eldridge’s hot bat can help shift momentum.

“Bryce has earned a right to be at this level and maybe even did so prior to today, but if anything, it’ll change it up with potential to add a spark,” Vitello said.

Eldridge now has an opportunity to step into the San Francisco’s lineup and help turn things around against the Padres, as the Giants look to snap its losing skid and return to the win column after a difficult week.

“There was a lot said in the last couple of days, and it’s time for us to push forward, not just the coaches, everyone should have a little edge to them. If anything, our fanbase deserves that at the very least.”
